Bus Services

Updated: Monday, February 18, 2008

Buses are cheap and economical - and using one vehicle rather than 40 cars is better for the environment!

In Fiji, buses are by far the most popular means of transportation. Bus services are readily available, come in three categories and are priced accordingly.

The more regular of the services is the localroutes with open-air buses and padded seats. They provide cheap services to all suburbs, stop where required, with the help of bell-strings or buzzers and can be waved down.

Then there are highway express buses which generally link towns and cities. These stop at designated areas and towns. They depart from bus terminals in each town and stop only at bus shelters along the way.

The more sophisticated air-conditioned coaches run between Nadi and Suva along the Coral Coast to a twice daily schedule. These pick-up and drop-off only at hotels and resorts.

All three services are cheap, cheap, cheap! And you can take a whole heap of luggage too!
