'Jungle Boogie' on the Coral Coast

This is fusion! This is New York City meets the Pacific….lounge bars with a twist of elegance and funk, dancing to disco beats, reggae and rock. Escape the metropolis and cruise to the Coral Coast to relax and unwind.
Let’s get down to the nightspots:
Tadra (Dream) Nightclub is situated right on the beach with an international DJ to get you going. It’s a bit of an outdoor/indoor feel and can get rather hot inside with young college grads’ bodies all grooving and sweating to the DJ beat. The crowd is safe and secure, but after a long night you might want to check into a room as driving up the dirt road can be murder.
If you are looking for a bit of sophistication, try the Hibiscus Nightclub at the Warwick Hotel. Now don’t break out the old muumuu (long tacky Fijian dress) and senikau (flower)… you might fit in better with more trendy attire. Music’s low energy, but after a few cocktails the energy will probably hit you, right where you least expect it! Okay so this is where you can dance till dawn – NOT. Try…..only “midnight”! No cover charge and there’s live music and a DJ. I would say it’s the place to feel important or look important . Whatever!
Think Salusalu (garland)Lounge and what comes to mind? A ukulele player singing “Tiny Bubbles,” maybe a flashback to the 60s, 70s & 80s? Nope. The name can throw you for loop, but just bring your disco bootie and shake it. It’s an open-air lounge with cool ocean breeze, fantastic bar and not forgetting great cultural entertainment. Again, there’s no cover charge, but it’s less of the sophistication and more of a relaxed feel. I reckon it’s a great stop-over to meet the friendly locals and to unwind and chill out.
Then there’s Casablanca on the Old Queen’s Highway. Casablanca Hotel has a kind of Mediterranean feel, with its white washed, concrete slapped walls, looking out to the blue Pacific Ocean. The hotel’s night spot operates on Fridays and Saturdays only. If you like being enclosed in a dark room and bumping into strangers of the night, well this would be your heaven. Bring your boxing gloves because they may come in handy. The music is a mixture of reggae and local sounds. This hangout is for the hardcore beer-belly taki diehards. I don’t recommend wearing your Rolex or your designer heels – you may need to hightail it outta there in a hurry! Get the picture? No? Well, if you’ve been to New York City, it’s similar to the basement bars of Harlem.
So….you can never run short of wild jungle boogie on the coral coast!!!
