Chakde

Impossible is nothing.
That's basically what the movie is about as Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) goes about moulding and inspiring a world class hockey team from scratch. But I gotta hand it to Director Shimit Amin, Chakde is far from your usual underdogs beating the million to 1 chance of winning the World Cup.

But there is more to the movie than just hockey; there is internal "kach-kach" which almost leads to the team collapsing even before they have proved themselves, a chick feud as the saying goes. She doesn't like her, she’s too ugly, that one’s too short, she's too dumb...blah blah blah (too bad there's no hair pulling fight scenes). So Kabir also has his hands full playing baby-sitter (kinda).
Kabir also has some demons in his closet...the guy is trying to clear his name after the Indian Mens Hockey team (with him in the team) lost to Pakistan, and he got accused of match-fixing.
All in all, a well rounded movie, and even if you've never watched and understood hockey, it doesn't matter...the fancy camera work and the fact that the “team rebel” comes through will be enough to satisfy your thirst for something exciting.
Chakde gets 4 stars out of 5.
