Damodar Brothers
Updated: Friday, April 25, 2008
The most popular and recommended cinemas in Fiji are those of the locally owned Damodar Brothers franchise. Village 6 is the largest cinematic facility in Fiji while second in size is Village 4 in Lautoka. Most of the times, new movies are released simultaneously at the 2 cinemas probably because of their urban locality.
Cinemas are opened to the public 7 days a week (except on certain public holidays), with the earliest screening at 10am and the latest running into midnight, especially in the weekends. Movies are always screened in these cinemas unless certain factors prohibit it eg in-house construction, power failure, fire threats or natural disasters. The other 2 cinemas under the Damodar franchise are Galaxy 2 in Nadi and Elite in Labasa. They too, screen both Hollywood and Bollywood releases.
All Damodar cinemas share similar features ie. good ventilation systems, car park, confectionary and coffee bar and game centres, excluding Elite Theatre. Otherwise, movies screened are always ‘fresh’ and Fiji often premiers new movies first because of our location on the earlier side of the international dateline.
Another reason to feel good at the movies.
